Our pets are like family members. We celebrate their birthdays and buy them gifts. We even talk to them and play with them. So what can you do to show your pet you care? Here are a few ideas:

• Keep your pet’s vaccinations up to date.
• Keep a collar with tags on your pet or have your pet microchipped.
• Spend time playing with your pet. Get out his favorite toy, go for a walk or play fetch.
• Take him to the vet if he is sick or you think he might be sick.
• Feed him a good quality food that is formulated for his life stage, breed and species. Avoid feeding him human junk food as this can cause your pet to become overweight.
• Spay or neuter your pet to prevent unwanted litters.
• Adopt your pet from an animal shelter or rescue.
• Provide protection from the elements.
• Always have fresh water available.

As you can see, it really doesn’t take much to show your pet that you care or to keep him happy. Enjoy the time you have with your pet and allow him to enrich your life.
