| | Product Details: | Feline asthma is a well-known clinical entity that is increasingly being recognized and diagnosed. Standard treatment has usually involved oral medications of corticosteriods and brochodilators. This treatment regime is problematic due to the drugs’ systematic side effects plus the low level of owner compliance in long term oral dosing their cat.
Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI) have been the treatment of choice of human asthmatics. These inhalers have been shown to be more effective than oral medications without the adverse systematic side effects. However, standard MDI's are difficult to use with cats. JorVet has developed a specialized aerosol chamber that uses standard human MDI’s and works well with the small tidal volume of feline patients.
The MDI is attached or popped into the distal end. The soft mask is gently placed over the cat’s muzzle and treatment is done. Most cats readily accept treatment using this method and results are significantly improved.
