This blade is shorter than the 8 ½ and longer than the 10 blade. It can be used for close clipper work on some poodles, spaniels and terriers with sensitive skin. Remember the cutting blade is more exposed because of the wide spaces of the comb on the blade which means it may cut the dog easier than the 10 blade.
