Although a simple trick, it will take work and dedication to complete.
Directions
- Begin with your dog in front of you.
- Using the command "SHAKE" or "GIVE YOUR PAW," take the dog's paw in your hand.
- Praise the dog and give a treat.
- Repeat
- Gradually, once the command is given, the dog will raise its paw without assistance.
- When this is reached quit for the day and reward the dog for its hard work
- During the next session use the command "SHAKE" or "GIVE YOUR PAW" and hold you hand out.
- If previous training has been retained, the dog will put its paw out
- Praise
- If this does not occur, repeat the steps from the previous day and try again.
