The Horse Hydrator is a two-stage water filtration system designed specifically for horses. It attaches directly to a standard garden hose to reduce foul tastes and odors while filtering chlorine, iron, hydrogen sulfide, and select heavy metals. By improving water palatability, the Horse Hydrator helps encourage consistent water intake at home, during travel, and at competitions.
Even small changes in hydration can matter. A 2% decrease in water intake has been shown to correspond with up to a 15% reduction in performance. Improving water taste and odor can help support proper hydration so horses can perform at their best.
The Horse Hydrator uses a dual filtration approach to improve water quality for horses. The first stage uses KDF-55 media, followed by activated coconut carbon filtration.
KDF-55 (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) media is made from a high-purity copper-zinc alloy. Through oxidation-reduction reactions, KDF-55 helps reduce chlorine, soluble heavy metals (including lead, mercury, and chromium), iron, hydrogen sulfide, algae, fungi, and bacteria. These reactions convert contaminants into less harmful forms that are then filtered from the water.
The second stage uses eco-friendly activated coconut carbon, which contains a high volume of microscopic pores that trap contaminants more effectively than many traditional carbon sources. This process helps further reduce odors and improve taste, resulting in clearer, cleaner, and more palatable water.
Horses often reduce water intake when exposed to unfamiliar tastes and odors, especially during travel. Even minor dehydration may result in a 10–20% decrease in performance. By improving water quality and palatability, the Horse Hydrator helps support hydration and may reduce health risks associated with dehydration, such as poor recovery and reduced performance.
Attach the Horse Hydrator directly to a standard 3/4-inch garden hose. Use with cold water only. Replace the filter after approximately 4–6 months of use or once 2,000 gallons have been filtered, depending on water quality.
The Horse Hydrator helps reduce chlorine, soluble heavy metals (such as lead, mercury, and chromium), iron, hydrogen sulfide, algae, fungi, and unpleasant tastes and odors.
Each filter lasts up to 2,000 gallons or approximately 4–6 months, depending on source water quality and usage.
Over time, the filter will become less effective at reducing tastes, odors, and contaminants. A noticeable decline in water quality or palatability may indicate it is time to replace the filter.
Yes. By reducing unfamiliar tastes and odors, the Horse Hydrator helps make water more appealing, which may encourage increased and more consistent water intake.
Yes. The compact design makes it easy to use at home, shows, events, and while traveling, helping horses adjust to unfamiliar water sources.
